The Teeter Hang Ups EP-550 and EP-850 Inversion Tables come with an excellent instep locking system. Most people who are going to use the table for therapeutic purposes do not need extreme angles in order to get the benefits of inversion. Especiall if their table includes Traction Handles. Most users will be comfortable with the standard instep lock. If you have sensitive ankles or you are purchasing the table for athletic purposes you may want to include the Teeter Hang Ups Gravity Boots with your table. In the past when the F5000 and F7000 were Teeter's main selling tables we have found approximately 30-40% of purchasers end up with boots either initially or they order them after they have had their table for a while. Both the 5000 and the F7000 could be converted to use boots. However, now that the EP-950 inversion table is the favorite Teeter table being sold and is not designed to be used with gravity boots the percentages are much lower. The ratchet ankle locking system of the EP-950 inversion table may be more comfortible because the locking increments are finer than the EP-550. If you do not have boots you can still hang totally upside-down and do sit-ups, reverse squats etc. The benefit of the boots is that they distribute the pressure to more surface area and reduce discomfort. The calf loop helps to distribute the pressure and puts a small bend in the knee which can also be beneficial. Please note: We recommend very mild angles for the first week or two please see suggestions for getting started. During this time your feet will should feel only minimal pressure from the ankle clamps. Also some people find there insteps and heels seem adapt to the pressure over time if the angle is not too extreme and not for long periods. Also some people have found that thick socks and hiking boots will take some of the pressure off the instep and heel.

What is the CV or Conversion Bar

The CV Bar is a T shaped conversion bar that allows the Teeter F5000, F6000, F7000, F8000, EP-550 and EP-850 inversion tables to be able to be used with Teeter Hang Ups Gravity Boots.

If you choose to purchase the EP-550 or the complete table and boot combination your table will include the standard instep locking system. If you purchase the table with the Adapter Kit or the EP-550 Sport which includes the Adapter Kit and and the Traction Handles you will have the option to use your table with or without Teeter Hang Ups Gravity Boots. Some people use the standard instep lock at home and use their boots in the gym (some gyms have bars for hanging). Once you make the conversion to use the CV Bar and Teeter Gravity Boots the table can be converted back but it is not something you would want to do often.

One Person's Experience With Gravity Boots

I ordered the Gravity boots with the F7000 with some uncertainty of whether I would need them, but I'm very glad I did now. With the standard ankle locking mechanism on the F7000 set as recommended on my ankles, after several minutes being inverted my feet seemed to be lacking in circulation, which was immediately relieved when standing upright again, when the ankle mechanism released its pressure. I think that while inverted, the standard ankle locking device placed enough pressure on the arteries in my lower ankle/upper foot to impede circulation. So then I broke out the Gravity Boots and made the modification to the F7000 to accommodate the CV bar over which the boots hook while inverted. The gravity boots made a big difference. I'm having no more issues with impeded circulation and they are just very comfortable while hanging. I only do a 40 degree inversion so far, but it helps very much. I'm not sure if I will ever want to do a total inversion since its not really necessary to obtain the full benefit out of the inversion table.

A Note About Gravity Boots

Most people purchase the Teeter Hang Ups EP-950 Inversion Table because it is an easy and convenient system for getting locked in and unlocked. And has many useful features. The gravity boots are most often used for athletic purposes such as upside down sit-ups. Those purchasing the EP-950 in most cases would never have a need for gravity boots.
As with the other tables you do not need gravity boots to do sit-ups and other exercises. However, for some who want to do extensive inversion in the fully inverted position, boots may be necessary for maximum comfort.
If you want the best of both worlds it is possible to purchase an additional main shaft (same as the EP-550) that can be modified to use with Hang Up's Gravity Boots. Having two main shafts would be totally unnecessary for the vast majority of people. Please don't let this note about owning two main shafts confuse you. We only mention it as a possibility that some people do take advantage of. Swapping out the main shafts is a quick and easy process. One of the great values of the Teeter inversion tables is that they can be modified to be use with gravity boots. The EP-550 Inversion Tables can be modified with the Adapter Kit. For most users with back problems the EP-950 is a better choice than the EP-550. Many inversion table users never need extreme angles such as total inversion to get excllent results. The EP-950 is easier to use, has the Easy-Reach Rachet Lock System for finer adjustment increments for ankles comort, has Traction Handles standard and other features. You can go to full inversion with the EP-950 but for therapeudic benefits it is usually not necessary.

Enhance your stretching experience with the Teeter Hang Ups® EP550 Inversion Table. In addition to all of the patented and unique features of our base model, the EP550 is designed to include features that improve user-friendliness and effectiveness. The highlight of the EP550 is the EZ-Stretch Traction Handles, which provide added benefit to inverted stretching and decompression. The handles make it possible to achieve the equivalent of a fully inverted stretch even while at lesser angles. In addition, they can be used as a tool for intermittent traction and oscillation.

The benefits of inversion start at an angle of just 20 degrees and are fully realized at 60 degrees, which is equivalent to the angle of the A-frame rear legs. For the advanced user, full inversion provides an ideal way to mobilize the joints and perform inverted sit-ups or squats. Most people can receive the full benefits of inversion therapy without ever going to full inversion.

Although most people find the standard ankle clamps on the EP550 to be comfortable, some users may require additional support. Very very few inversion tables are returned to our company. Even though we sell to a very high percentage of people suffering with back problems our return rate is less than 1/2 of 1 percent. This is less than one table returned in 200 sold. Most people love their inversion tables and tell us they wish they had purchased an inversion table many years ago. Often when returned the table was never even taken out of the box. The person was advised by their physician not to use the table and they followed this advice. Our policy is to try to ship immediately - usually between 1-2 business days from receipt of order. Orders may ship the same day as received. This is the fastest possible shipping and we make every effort to expedite your order.
